DJI Go 4 Compatible Devices [2023]

There’s no doubt that flying your DJI drone using a dedicated controller is fun.

However, do you know that you can make the experience even better?

Why spend over $1000 on a drone and try to fly it with a controller that has a small screen?

Why not fly it using a tablet or phablet?

It is a lot easier to fly your drones using these devices and you get better visuals as well.

That being said, there is a small problem you may run into.

There are many DJI Go 4 compatible devices available but how do you find the right one for the DJI drone you want to fly?

Let’s take a look at some of the best DJI Go 4 compatible devices on the market.

What is the DJI Go 4 app?

dji compatible tablets hands

DJI Go 4 is the app for drone pilots who fly DJI prosumer drones.

The app comes with tons of features and settings that allow you to enjoy flying your drone.

DJI Go 4 is available on both iOS and Android platforms.

It is used to provide live video transmission from the drone to your tablet or smartphone.

Here is a list of DJI Go 4 compatible drones:

DJI Go 4 allows you to alter the flight characteristics of the drone, change camera settings, set obstacle avoidance settings and return-to-home settings for safe flying and landing.

The app also includes Intelligent flight modes and Quick Shots that allow you to track, orbit and capture amazing shots of your subject.

To begin, download the app on your iOS or Android device.

The first time you launch the app, you’ll be required to give it permission for a few features.

The app will need permission to use Bluetooth so it can communicate with the drone.

You’ll also need to give permission to access your photos so you can save photos taken from your drone to your camera roll.

It’ll also need permission to access your location for location-based services and features.

After agreeing to the Terms of Use and opt-in or not to DJI’s product improvement program, you can create your DJI account or sign in if you have an existing account.

From there, select your drone and connect to your drone using the DJI controller.

Inside the DJI Go 4 App

The DJI Go 4 App has 4 tabs across the bottom.

They are labeled as Equipment, Editor, Skypixel and Me.

Let’s take a closer look at each of them.

You’ll find that you’ll be spending most of your time in this tab.

This tab will help you to connect and control your drone.

There’s also the option to enter a flight simulator, view flight records, GEO zones and airspace restrictions.

In the editor tab, you can import photos and videos from your drone to your phone or tablet. You can also edit videos and photos in this tab as well.

Skypixel is DJI’s social platform.

You can join the community and share your aerial imagery with other drone fanatics.

The “Me” tab includes helpful information about your DJI account and Skypixel account. You can also get access to DJI support, DJI Store, DJI Forum, etc. from this tab.

Things to consider when buying a DJI GO 4 app compatible device

dji go compatible devices tablet hand

Before investing in a DJI Go 4 compatible device, there are several things you need to consider before.

Following these tips will ensure you get the best bang for your buck and your needs are met.

DJI GO 4 System Requirements

The DJI Go 4 app requires a specific running environment.

The DJI Go iOS requires a device running iOS 10.0.0 or later.

On the other hand, DJI Go 4 Android requires a device running Android 5.0 or later.

Your DJI Go 4 compatible device should not cost more than your drone unless you’re looking to buy a new phone or tablet anyway.

If you’re looking for a device just for flying your drone, you don’t need to have a huge budget.

Release Date

There are a ton of DJI GO 4 compatible devices that came out as early as 5 years ago.

Of course, the older model devices are cheaper.

However, you may not be able to find them or they may only be available in renewed versions.

While cheap, they may not be able to keep up with the latest Android or iOS systems.

This is why it is much better to go for devices released within the last couple of years.

Operating system( Android or iOS)

When it comes to running the DJI Go 4 app, nothing comes close to an iOS device.

It is recommended that you go for an iOS device if you’re thinking of purchasing a device solely for the purpose of flying your DJI drone.

However, if you already have a compatible Android device or can’t afford an Apple product, you can still enjoy all that the Go 4 app has to offer.

Screen Brightness

The screen brightness on your DJI Go 4 compatible device should be a major factor when thinking of buying one.

Most times you’ll be flying outdoors so you’ll need a bright screen so that you can see better.

In extremely sunny situations, it may be impossible to see anything at all on your screen even if you adjust the brightness of the screen to the highest setting.

If you work in sunny environments, the DJI CrystalSky is your best bet.

Wifi- only or cellular tablet

If your budget is tight, you are better off going with a cellular device.

This is because you may not be able to use the intelligent flight modes on your DJI drones or set home points to your current location.

This is because these functions require GPS and most Wifi-only devices are not equipped with GPS.

Your maps will also not work without internet access.

This means you will have to cache the map in advance which can work in your favor sometimes.

If you already have a wifi-only tablet, you can attach any Bluetooth GPS and connect it to the mobile hotspot on your phone or any device that has internet access.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of DJI Go 4 compatible devices.

The options are virtually endless.

However, we have listed the most popular devices that have been DJI Go 4 app compatibility tested by hundreds of users.
